Do you have questions about the Orthodox Education Webinar? Browse through the commonly asked questions to find your answer below or contact us for more information.
Q: CAN MORE THAN ONE PERSON ATTEND THE WEBINAR ON AN INDIVIDUAL TICKET REGISTRATION?
A: Yes. Individual registration includes access via one computer for everyone living in your home. Example: husband & wife, parents & children, etc. An individual registration does not include friends, neighbors or other family members not living with you.
Q: CAN A GROUP OF PEOPLE REGISTER AND WATCH THE WEBINAR TOGETHER?
A: Yes. When registration opens, there will be an option to register as an individual (which includes everyone living in your home) or as a group (for example, a parish that wants to watch it on a large screen in their hall).
Q: HOW DO I ACCESS THE WEBINAR?
A: You will receive an email the day before the conference with a unique link for you after having previously registered to be an attendee. Simply click on the link and it will take you to the conference.
Q: WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS CONFERENCE?
A: Technology today allows for communication possibilities that were not possible even a short time ago. There are several companies who provide Internet based communication for large groups of people to hold meetings, conferences, and to keep in contact with one another on a regular basis over great distances. This medium allows individuals and large groups to collaborate with one another at a fraction of the cost it would otherwise cost to travel to another state or country.
We have an opportunity to gather Orthodox Christians from across the nation to listen to Orthodox speakers talk about and discuss education within our churches, schools, and homes. A webinar will allow a substantially greater number of parents, teachers, clergy, godparents, and friends to attend this conference versus a physical conference with the obstacles involved with travel and costs.
This conference will provide the opportunity to inform and share with others about some of the educational resources currently available to Orthodox Christians. Our goal is to present some of these resources and ideas to all of you as a catalyst for the further growth and development of your educational programs in your hometown parishes, homes, and schools.
Q: HOW IS A WEBINAR DIFFERENT FROM A PODCAST?
A: With most webinars, there is an auditory as well as a visual aspect to the presentation. Attendees at the Orthodox Education Webinar can ask speakers questions via a panel on the right side of their computer screen and get real time answers. Speakers also have the option to ask questions of the attendees via a poll on the screen. We can gather together and attend the webinar as a community.
Q: WILL THE PRESENTATIONS BE ARCHIVED FOR VIEW AFTER MARCH 9, 2013?
A: Yes. All the presentations will be available for download the week after the webinar for attendees who purchased a webinar ticket. Although this time around, there will NOT be an option to purchase archives after the webinar. In order to download the archives the week following the webinar, you will need to have purchased a registration between Feb. 16 & March 8, 2013.
Q: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING THE WEBINAR LIVE INSTEAD OF JUST WATCHING THE ARCHIVES AFTERWARDS?
- You have the opportunity to ask the speaker one or more questions. You also have the opportunity to listen to the answers from questions other attendees ask the speaker.
- Sometimes speakers offer a special discount or handout during their presentation which is not available after the webinar.
- We will be offering a give away during the webinar. Those in attendance are included in the drawing for the prize.
Q: CAN I EXIT AND COME BACK TO THE WEBINAR AT ANY POINT THROUGHOUT THE CONFERENCE? (I CANNOT ATTEND ALL THE PRESENTATIONS. CAN I ATTEND SOME BUT NOT ALL OF THEM?)
A: Yes. You can rejoin the webinar in progress each time by clicking on the link emailed to you.
Q: WILL EVERYONE BE ABLE TO HEAR MY KIDS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND?
A: No. Since there are so many people in attendance at the webinar, we mute everyone except the speaker presenting at the moment. No one will be able to hear you or anyone around you during the presentations.
